A needs analysis was applied and collected through instruments as checklists, surveys, and class observation; and the information about the application of the local context in the English classes through different activities to promote the oral production was chosen according to the results of a questionnaire applied during this process. As a consequence, a four-unit course focused on The Carnival of Barranquilla was planned for the students of 9th grade in this public school.
