This project aims to present an alternative design to connect the municipalities of Puerto Colombia and Santa Veronica, located in the department of Atlántico, through a bicycle corridor that will serve as a connection between both municipalities, considering that currently there is no exclusive and safe infrastructure for cyclists, so they must travel along the coastal route, also known as the Cartagena-Barranquilla Road, exposing them to danger. This corridor will connect with several neighboring areas that are in the middle of these two municipalities, such as Puerto Velero, Puerto Caimán, Caño Dulce and Playa Mendoza, this will generate a greater affluence of tourists to these areas, and this can help to improve the quality of life of local inhabitants. Through the different evaluation criteria, we were able to determine and analyze the dimensions and characteristics of the bikeway, adhering to the standards of the "Guide of Cycle Infrastructure for Colombian Cities" established by the Ministry of Transportation. In addition, the economic, social, and environmental factors were considered for its realization. The design requirements for the cross sections of the bikeway and the pavement were also considered. This project is estimated to cost approximately 59.500 million of Colombian pesos, and it will have a duration of 305 days, equivalent from 10 to 11 months for its accomplishment. At the end of the design process, we were able to achieve the objective of connecting the municipalities of Puerto Colombia and Santa Veronica and provide added value to the project thanks to the connections with the nearby beaches along the bikeway corridor.
