This document describes the analysis and the design process of transportation routes for students, officials and professors of the Universidad del Norte. The objective of this design is to offer new institutional collective transportation alternatives to the Uninorte community, considering that there are currently problems related to the mobility of students, teachers and officials in the metropolitan area of Barranquilla. The alternative routes are designed through the different processes learned in the career, and especially in the subject named Transportation engineering, making use of secondary information, which allows having a first entry to the search for an optimal solution to transportation problems that are currently presented. To achieve this purpose, the consulting team follows the technical guidelines, through the search for information that would allow knowing the dynamics of the Uninorte community. This was carried out through the analysis of Origin-Destination surveys, carried out in previous periods of time and for the current period by students from the transportation engineering area of the Universidad del Norte. These surveys revealed information related to the trips generated and attracted at the university and their characteristics. With this information are obtained the origin-destination matrix, the hourly distribution of trips and the modal split, which characterizes the University community. After data processing is done the georeferencing of the points and the overlapping of existing public transport routes in the QGIS tool, in order to evaluate the points of greatest demand and least coverage, to present the first route alternatives and choose the most appropriate through a hierarchical analysis of alternatives. In a similar way to the routes, alternatives of vehicles to be used are considered taking into account environmental and economic guidelines to choose the best transport equipment.
