| dc.description | El presente artículo pretende identificar, analizar y resaltar el papel que juega la geografía en los tiempos actuales, destacando la importancia de esta ciencia en el proceso educativo. Se inicia el artículo con un análisis sucinto de la importancia de la geografía hasta el siglo XIX; seguidamente, se relaciona el desarrollo teórico alcanzado por la geografía en el siglo XX y el papel destacado de la ciencia geográfica en el análisis, interpretación y solución de los problemas espaciales que se presentan en la superficie terrestre. A continuación, se resalta la importancia de aquella en la educación y se finaliza con unas pequeñas conclusiones.This article aims at identifying, analyzing and highlighting the role played by Geography at present. The importance of this science in the educational process is highlighted. The article begins with a brief analysis of the importance of Geography until XIX Century; then, the theoretical development reached by geography in the XX Century is related to the outstanding role of geographical science in the analysis, interpretation and solution of spatial problems on the Earth surface. Later on, the importance of Geography in education is highlighted and some conclusions are stated. | |
