Rediseño del proceso de almacenamiento de la bodega de herramientas y equipos de la Universidad del Norte por medio de una herramienta informática.

Abstract

En este proyecto se propone una mejora para el proceso de almacenamiento de la bodega de herramientas y equipos de la sección de servicios generales. El sistema actual cuenta con una política a hueco libre o almacenamiento caótico, es por esto que se presentan altos tiempos en los procesos de recolección y disposición final de ítems, además de sobrecostos generados por la compra de ítems existentes en la bodega de los cuales se desconoce su ubicación, sin mencionar las evidentes condiciones inseguras que se presentan. Por lo anterior, se ha propuesto abordar la problemática realizando un análisis por medio de la metodología ABC, con el fin de conocer las referencias más utilizadas para posteriormente plantear una redistribución de los espacios aplicando una política de almacenamiento a hueco fijo o almacenamiento organizado, que permita disminuir los tiempos para estas actividades. Por otro lado, con el fin de generar un mayor impacto se ha decidido proponer el uso de una herramienta informática diseñada por el grupo investigativo, creada a partir de la base de datos de inventario llevada actualmente por la sección de servicios generales, la cual funcionará como un buscador de ítems y facilitará al usuario suministrar a cada auxiliar la posición exacta del ítem requerido. El uso de esta herramienta permitirá actualizar el inventario de la bodega, así como generar trazabilidad de los ítems utilizados. Con la implementación del diseño planteado se espera que la sección de servicios generales obtenga: una disminución en los tiempos de recolección y disposición final de ítems, reduzca el riesgo de accidentes laborales, disminuya los costos por compras innecesarias de artículos existentes que no son utilizados por desconocimiento de su ubicación y tener mayor control del inventario. Los resultados fueron obtenidos a partir de la comparación de un estudio de tiempos realizados al sistema actual y una prueba piloto del sistema propuesto.

The propose of this project is to improve the storage process of the tools and equipment inside the warehouse of the general services section due to the current state of the warehouse, which doesn’t have a correct policy of storage, making high times in the processes of collection and final disposition of items, high risk of accidents, physical exhaustion of the auxiliaries and over costs for the purchase of existing items in the warehouse whose location is unknown. For the above it has been proposed to approach the problem by conducting an analysis through the ABC methodology in order to know the most used references and from this submit a reorganization of the warehouse applying a fixed policy of storage, which allows to reduce the times for these activities. Furthermore, in order to generate a greater impact it has been decided to recommend the use of a computer tool developed by the research group connected with the inventory database, currently carried by the general services section, which will function as a Search of items and allow the user to provide each assistant with the exact position of the item required. The use of this tool will allow the inventory of the warehouse to be updated as well as to generate traceability of the items used. With the implementation of the proposed design it is expected that the general services section will obtain: a reduction in the collection and final disposition of items, reduce the risk of work accidents, decrease the costs for purchases of existing items, that are no used for lack of knowledge of their location and allow greater control of the inventory, outcome obtained by comparing studies of times performed to the current system and a pilot test carried out on the proposed system.
